Families travel far and stay long for their child’s specialized care, often for weeks or months. When a child is ill or injured, families don’t just visit, they stay. Our House helps them stay together, supported and close to the care their child needs.
Thanks to a collaboration between the Mid-Kansas McDonald’s Co-op members, the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, and the Wichita Junior League, our very first Ronald McDonald House—Sleepy Hollow—opened its doors with just 10 bedrooms.
Today, that legacy has grown into a 20-bedroom House located right across from the hospital, continuing our mission to keep families close when they need it most. ❤️
Ronald McDonald House Family Room
Our Ronald McDonald House Family Room is inside Wesley Children’s Hospital, Building 1, 5th floor, giving families a place to rest and recharge just steps from their child’s bedside.
In 2025, Ronald McDonald House Wichita served 1,453 families and provided 7,779 overnight stays, saving them $1,166,850 in out-of-pocket expenses.
Our House is built on a simple idea: families should be able to stay close to their child without worrying about where they’ll sleep or eat. Families stay with us at no cost, removing a major barrier for those who travel to Wichita for their child’s care.
