We support families by removing barriers and providing essential services while their children receive medical care, through our Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald House Family Room.

To stay at the Ronald McDonald House

Families travel far and stay long for their child’s specialized care, often for weeks or months. When a child is ill or injured, families don’t just visit, they stay. Our House helps them stay together, supported and close to the care their child needs.

Ronald McDonald House allows families to stay close by their hospitalized child. Our House is built on a simple idea: families shouldn’t have to worry about where they’ll stay or eat while their child receives care. By staying at a Ronald McDonald House, parents also can better communicate with their child’s medical team and keep up with complicated treatment plans when needed. Staying close helps parents talk with their child’s care team, understand the care plan and make timely decisions.

Here’s what a family can expect from Ronald McDonald House:

  • Private suite with two queen-size beds
  • Private bathroom with shower
  • Kitchen, laundry, playroom and other common areas
  • Pantry items, fresh foods, and at least one hot meal a day
  • Covered parking

Ronald McDonald House Family Room

Offering a place to rest and regroup at the hospital

The Ronald McDonald House Family Room is a place of respite and is just steps away from your child’s hospital bed. In the Family Room, families will find a comfortable place to relax, food, personal care items and laundry facilities. Private showers and a quiet room are located nearby.

Watch TV, read a book, work on a puzzle, or just relax. There is no fee to visit the Family Room.

The Ronald McDonald House Family Room is located inside Wesley Children’s Hospital in Building 1 on the 5th Floor. The room is situated between the Pediatric and Pediatric Intensive Care Units. Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm. Hours may be extended when volunteers are available.

Care Cart

Our Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart Program provides bedside amenities and comfort to parents and other caregivers while they remain with their hospitalized child.

Several times a week volunteers make rounds in the Pediatric and Pediatric Intensive Care units with the hospitality cart to provide items of care and comfort to the parents and siblings of hospitalized kids. The cart is filled with complimentary breakfast items, snacks, and coffee.

For parents and other caregivers who are reluctant to leave their critically ill or injured child, the bright and cheerful cart is a welcome sight. The friendly face of the volunteer with the cart reminds families that RMHC Wichita is there to provide comfort during a difficult time.
